The problem that I am having doesn't appear to make any sense - so unfortunately I am grasping at straws.
The common response that I seemed to get from the java forums, the Linux forums, and at times here is a memory issue. However, when starting Tomcat as root these "memory problems" do not occur. It was suggested that the problem is with the JVM, but it is only starting Tomcat that gives me this problem. I am completely at a loss, but find it hard to believe that there is no solution.
