I just grabbed the binary from the Tomcat site:
http://jakarta.apache.org/builds/jakarta-tomcat/release/v3.2.1/bin/linux/i386/
It worked fine for me.
I'm running RH Linux 6.2, Apache 1.3.12, and Tomcat 3.2.1.
