One or more tomcats ?

Hi,
 
Before, we had one tomcat for our 10 applications.
 
We have tried to have 5 tomcats in parallel and 2 applications per
tomcat.
 
Result :
We've got the impression that the applications are faster than before.
 
Anybody tried this ?
What do u think about having only one tomcat or severals ?
