I'm outa luck... Does log4j.jar also needs to be placed in $catalina_home/common/lib?

Howdy, Ahh, I should've known commons-logging was in the mix... Let's try temporarily to remove commons-logging*.jar from your WEB-INF/lib. See what happens...
