I can speak only of Tomcat 3.3.1. There you put <AccessLogInterceptor /> in server.xml and you'll get Apache combined logs. Check the docs for the other parameters. One caveat: you don't get logs if the request doesn't result in output, e.g., certain POST request. It is fixed in the dev version 3.3.2.
