Subject: jdk1.3 on FreeBSD4.2

Mikhail,

I "think" I've installed the jdk as per instructions below, but I get
the
hotspot error:

java version "1.3.0"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.3.0)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.3.0, mixed mode)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM warning: cannot uninstall alt signal stack

Any ideas why?

Do you know how I could uninstall and the re-install using make? I'm
quite
new to unix and all I know about make is cd-ing to a directory, typing
"make", then "make install"...

I've been looking at the FreeBSD section on making your installation of
FreeBSD -current or -stable, but couldn't find clear instructions. Do
you
have any idea how to do this?

Do you get the HotSpot error?

Thanks in advance!

Mikhail
