Reports back from the Cocoon developer community say that the changes I
checked in yesterday do fix this problem. It was due to the fact that you
cannot override JAR files that are marked "sealed" (as the jaxp.jar and
crimson.jar files in the JAXP 1.1 release are), as long as they are visible
to your web app's class loader. The JSP environment has been modified so
that the parser it uses is no longer visible to web apps, so there is no
problem with apps that want to run Xerces.
Pick up a nightly distribution >= 20010218, or the upcoming beta 2 release,
to take advantage of these changes.
