Michel, I strongly recommend building the connector from source. The reason for this is that the connector depends on the version of Apache you are using (at least that's my conclusion after many failed binary installs). I tried using binary versions, but wasn't able to. I finally did a source build on both Apache and and the mod connector and it worked great!
