httpd 500s without tomcat 500s

I see quite a few httpd 500s in the httpd access.logs without corresponding 
entries in the tomcat access.log. I am using Apache 2.0.42, mod_jk2, and 
Tomcat 4.1.24.

Any suggestions on how I can debug these?
