The sun JDK 1.4.2 release mucks encoding up... I went back to 1.4.1 and all was fine.
How does JDK 1.4.2 muck up the encoding? I'm using 1.4.2, my "file.encoding" appears to be UTF-8, and I have no problem with any of the text that I store in my MySQL database.
