Thanks. I tried to to find the 4.1.24 RPM under

http://jakarta.apache.org/builds/jakarta-tomcat-4.0/release/

but this redirects me to

http://jakarta.apache.org/site/binindex.cgi

which offers 4.1.29 and no RPM.

Where should I really be looking?

Robin,
I don't think you really need to have tomcat installed by rpm just to get the daemon working. From what I have managed to work out by a quick look today, if you want to run tomcat as a non-root user, and you want tomcat 4, you have to do some extra steps because it won't bind to port 80 unless it's running as root.

Check out the thread mentioned in the tomcat website: http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat/faq/security.html#root
