The GNU version of make IS gmake. On some systems
it will be called make, but as long as its the GNU version, its gmake. If it has
to be called gmake, simply create a symbolic link, e.g.:
ln -s make gmake
so gmake now points to make. You might need a
specific version of gmake, so check this
