For those who are interested in this issue (yet!)
I know that this is not a Tomcat problem but I think it's important!
We were working with the following network architecture:
Servlets <-----subnet1------>Firewall <-----subnet2------->Database
with this scenario we get the error.
But we change the architecture to:
Servlets <---- subnet1------>Database
And it works!
So we figure out that the problem is in the firewall, it releases the
connection.
