They go together: JDK 1.4 includes some components that previous JDKs
did not.  The LE distro doesn't duplicate those components already
included in JDK 1.4.  That was the original intent, anyways, and it
worked fine for me when I used it.  LE means Light Edition.  (Jokes
anticipated especially if Jacob is watching this thread ;))

However, there have been numerous complaints and configuration issues
related to the use of distro, particularly in the area of XML parsing.
JDK 1.4 includes buggy versions of JAXP and Crimson.  So my suggestion
is to use the regular full distro even if an LE one is available for the
tomcat release you want.  Starting with tomcat 5 there is no more LE
distro.
