well I'm just thinking there's a missing jar file somewhere. You said
that you just "copied the app folder" from your windows box to the unix
box. But what about the jars in common/lib, shared/lib or elsewhere?
Has someone done funky things with the Windows startup script that
causes jars elswhere on the hard drive to be available to the tomcat
running on that box?

also, velocity, without configuring it, will attempt to load templates
from the '.' directory, which will be different on windows and unix.
Perhaps turbine does something magical and handles it for you, but that
would be a question for turbine-user. So maybe your turbine jar files
are being found, but the template directory is not happy.
