I had this problem using Ant's SCP task. I believe (Feel free to shoot me down people) you will need to import the site's certificate into your certificate store manually before connecting. Unless of course there's an 'accept all certificates' flag for that task in Ant.

Just Ant complaining, with the exception I mentioned: javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: No trusted certificate found I can access the manager via SSL with my browser. That all works fine. Ant is unhappy.
