Hello,

Has anyone noticed any speed issues with tomcat 3.2 and jdk 1.3?
Maybe this question would be better for a Java list, but since we don't
seem to ever come across this with Tomcat 3.2 with JDK 1.2.2, I thought
I would try here first.

Sometimes (not always repeatable) a co-worker of mine has noticed
drastic "slow-downs" in tomcat when serving up a page. We are tracing
events that happen throughout the code and have noticed a significant
time switching between method calls, mostly in taglibs. The time that
it takes for one taglib to exit and the next to start can take up to 40
seconds.

Looking at the task manager, the JVM runnning tomcat (stand-alone) is
pinned at 99%, no other processes are using any of the CPU.

Could it possibly be garbage collection taking place at that time?

The code was compiled using JDK 1.2.2, then recompiled using JDK 1.3.
No 1.3 specific classes/methods are being used.

thanks in advance,
    Pete
