It would be nice if they did it right, but they didn't.  Copy the 
conf-auto to mod_jk.conf, manually change ajp12 to ajp13, and use that 
file instead.  Fortunately, webapps are organizationally a step above 
servlets and jsp pages, and are not something you create all the time. 
But when you do, either add what you need to your mod_jk.conf file (use 
conf-auto as a guide), or just copy conf-auto to mod_jk.conf and make 
the required ajp changes.

I presume you're new to tomcat, or at least new to the list because 
that same question in one form or another has been asked several 
"zillion" times, and that's pretty much the standard answer (except 
maybe for my sarcastic first sentence -- but the issue irks me since if 
it's going to be there it should be right or at least configurable). 
The question ought to be in a FAQ, but it's not.
