I dont know if this is common knowledge or not but
the start up files for tomcat WILL NOT RUN if you have them placed under a directory with a space without a space FILLER?!?!

I had c:\Apache Group\jakarta-tomcat-3.2.1
Tomcat wouldnt start
CHANGED to c:\Apache_Group\ditto and now it runs just fine....
Id like to thank a Stephen McConnell for his help!
He pointed this out!

Yes it does, you need to set the JAVA_HOME and TOMCAT_HOME environment
variables. Follow the directions here:
http://www.webappcabaret.com/javachina/tomcathowto.htm

It should work for you. I got it running and don't really know my butt from
my elbow. One thing though, it seems that the settings for thsoe two
variables aren't "saved" when you exit Tomcat, so you need to do the set
commands again. I did it this way to save the settings (I am using Win
2000): Start-Settings-Control Panel-System-Advanced Tab-Environment
Variables button-New...and add the JAVA_HOME and TOMCAT_HOME variables.

Subject: tomcat wont start..help?

I get to the part where I try to start up Tomcat at the command prompt and
it gives me
"The system cannot find the path specified"
Does this have something to do with the Path or Classpath in the Enviroment
settings?

thx

I have done some stress tests with Tomcat 3.2.1 and IBM VM 1.3 on a NT quad
box.  This configuration performs quite well.  However, after a certain
amount of time being stressed, the VM just crashes.  No informational,
nothing just exits.  I have tried turning on verbose at the vm level with no
luck.  Anyone had any experience with the IBM VM?
