We are running tomcat 4 on Open VMS system and ocassionally we have seen
this error message and crashed tomcat engine
2004-06-03 08:54:55 HttpConnector[8080] accept:
java.net.SocketException: too many open files
at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.socketAccept (PlainSocketImpl.java)
at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.accept (PlainSocketImpl.java:424) (pc 2)
at java.net.ServerSocket.implAccept (ServerSocket.java:243) (pc 37)
at java.net.ServerSocket.accept (ServerSocket.java:222) (pc 10)
at org.apache.catalina.connector.http.HttpConnector.run
(HttpConnector.java:993) (pc 9)
at java.lang.Thread.run (Thread.java:484) (pc 11)
We have increased the value of maxprocessors from 75 to 750 and only thing
we have noticed is that in past it used to crash every week but after
increasing that value it took two week to crash. It might be totally
irrevelent but this what we observed.
I would appreciate if someone will explain this problem and suggest
solution.
