Hi Carole,
Don't know if anyone else has attempted to help you yet, but you
cannot shutdown
Tomcat and restart it without cycling Apache as well if Apache is
talking to Tomcat.
When you shutdown Tomcat with Apache listening to the port, Apache will
not re-establish
the connection without being restarted.
