I got the solution to my problem: 1. The value for the variable CATALINA_HOME should not have ";" in the end. It should be only C:\jakarta-tomcat-5.0.25 2. The value for the variable JAVA_HOME should not have ";" in the end. It should be only C:\j2sdk1.4.2_05
