JAVA_HOME must point to the *root directory* where you J2SDK is installed. In my case, it points to /usr/lib/j2se/1.4 for Linux and on Windows it points to c:\j2sdk1.4.2_04. Tomcat can find the rest based on that indicator. -- Darryl L.
