Looking back over the archives I see that a couple of people have had
similar experiences but I couldn't find any responses that explained what
was going on or how to work around it. Apologies if I'm being dumb and
missed the replys.

I would be very grateful if anyone knows the answers to the following
questions: -
1) Is this a Tomcat or IIS issue (after all inetinfo is part of IIS).
2) Has anyone experienced similar problems under 2000 / IIS 5.0.
3) Is there any work around for this.

System info.
I am running Tomcat 3.2.1 on a duel processor machine, NT Server (SP 6a),
IIS 4.0.
The application (servlet) also uses JDBC to talk to MS SQL Server (but I
don;t think that is relevent).

Symptoms
During loadtesting the CPU usage of inetinfo.exe very slowly creeps up - for
example I started loadtesting last night (40 concurrent users interacting
with the servlet every second or so) and this morning (15 hours later)
inetinfo.exe is using 50% of the mil - compared to <3% during the first few
minutes of the test. Stopping the loadtesting does not reduce the CPU
usage. It seems that a restart of IIS is the only way to kill it.

On another occasion, after a full weekend of loadtesting, inetinfo.exe had
100% CPU and the system was crippled. IIS was not responding and could not
be stopped and stopping Tomcat caused an inetinfo.exe Dr Watson exception
(your friend and mine Mr Access violation).

I have run the servlet with Tomcat (NT Server SP6a and IIS 4.0) with an
older single processor machine and did not notice this problem.
