The message (about your address not being on the list) means exactly what
it says.

Consider for a moment how mailing lists work. When you subscribe, the
"From" address that is sent is the one that is registered. If you later
modify your from address, but your local email environment forwards
messages directed to the old one to you, what happens?
* You still get messages from the list
* You cannot unsubscribe by simply sending an empty
  message to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]".

The response message you get back in this case also includes instructions
on how to unsubscribe from your original from address, even though it's
been changed now. If I wanted to unsubscribe from "[EMAIL PROTECTED]", I would
send an empty message to
"[EMAIL PROTECTED]" instead. This
will trigger a confirmation so that you cannot arbitrarily unsubscribe
other people, but it will work.

The only hard part about this is figuring out what address you originally
subscribed under. That's your problem -- although you can usually tell by
examining the mail headers in detail.
