So it's clear from the above Tomcat's not as fault, and the fault most likely lies with the one app that does crash. Other than that, the information provided in your email is not nearly enough to enable people to help you. Please describe the unresponsive state in more detail. Is CPU usage pegged at a certain point? Have you examined the thread dump from sending the JVM a CTRL+BREAK or SIGQUIT? If you need help debugging such a thread dump, post it here. Are requests still accepted by Tomcat in this unresponsive state? Can you reproduce the behavior on a test server with only Tomcat and this one webapp? Does the behavior happen under high load, normal load, or any load? What JDK version are you using? Any details you can provide would let us help you more...
