4.1.x is still a very stable release. I reluctantly upgrade to 5.x until recently that I am having OutOfMemory issues with Tomcat Manager. I extended Manager by myself and patch my CGIServlet to handle 302 redirect. It will be a bug pain for me to upgrade.
