The buffer would be on the mod_jk/mod_jk connector, not on Tomcat's end, most likely. So you'd look in http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat/connectors-doc/jk2/. I just took a quick look and saw nothing relevant, but I'm not willing to spend any more time on connector research, so I'll leave it up to you and others who might know.
