The existing configure script is one-size-fits-most. You might want to run buiLkconf.sh to get a config specific you your environment. I don't really have a suggestion. The page you referenced refers to building mod_jk and optionally linking it statically to Apache, which I've not done. I would tend to use mod_jk as a dynamic module.
