Scott,

The last time I posted to this board about spamming the SPAMMER and at least one other member on the mailing list did not think it was SPAMMING.

Here is what I Posted:

Mark,

While everybody needs to make a living, there are certain "venues" as you are
undoubtedly aware e.g. "dice, monster.. etc."

Why do you, then,  "Deliberately" Go Off Topic?

Is this "Virgin Territory"?
Is this: Fair Game Virtual Real Estate? Unknown and uncharted waters to fish? --
Free of competition?

Does the Pronouncement "Off Topic: Dev. Engineers Needed!" give you Carte
Blanche here?

It appears that you are guilty of "premeditated 'spamming'"!

My response is probably going to go unheeded and is probably a total waste of my
time -- and the board's diskspace.
But I feel that there are certain (rules) that must be obeyed.
The rule here is implicit. Don't go off topic.

regards,

mike anderson

Mike,

While it is not "virgin territory" nor free of competition, it is the most
likely venue to find the exact candidate for our needs without the wait or
the chance of not being seen by the right crowd.

Going off topic is the right action, if you don't agree, don't read or
reply.  Last time I checked there were no rules against it.  As for your
comment on "premeditated spamming" I do not agree, if I was selling golf
balls or some other trinket I would agree with you, however, our Company is
in immediate need of 10 Java engineers with heavy Tomcat/Apache experience,
this is the perfect venue to make a request for the same.  Not knowing your
business to make an analogy, but, do you ask for oranges at an apple event?

I'm interested. What do you have to offer ?

Wellington

SO WHAT IS THE BLOODY DIFFERENCE?

BULK MAILING RATES that a person could user? or
ADS ABOUT JOBS that a person could use? Selling is Selling
Whether its a "good" or "service" ITS BUSINESS BEING CONDUCTED
ON A "TECHNICAL SITE"  THAT I VIGOROUSLY OPPOSE!!!!

I personally DEFINE SPAMMING TO BE ANYTHING "OFF TOPIC"
i.e. ANYTHING NOT TECHNICALLY RELATED TO "Tomcat, Jakarta, Apache, OOD and RELATED java/serlvets/ejbs/jsp... etc."

Tell me Scott -- Where is the drawing line?
But as you so aptly pointed out... anything that I say about this issue "..will most likely be ignored anyway.."

Its already been done, even though it was probably a futile action on my
behalf as the requests for removal will most likely be ignored anyway, and
also lets the spammer know that they have hit an 'active' address, but
thanks for the suggestion.
Yes, it was such a lot of work to do this... duh!

Do you personally like getting this crap or something???
The way I see it, the complete tomcat list has been targeted, so I would
think that the list can handle the spam stomping.
I'm sick of lists I lurk on being hit with this stuff.

If you are going to add something, try something useful or at least humour
(yes, even sarcasm!)
