customizing login.jsp

I've got a JDBC realm configured and working and would like to customize the 
associated login.jsp.  Right now any
images I refer to in the jsp are not found at runtime.  Do I have to add these 
to the servlet's war file?  Or am I just
putting the resources in the wrong location (under the servlet directory)?
