Bagus, Each virtual host is a host element in server.xml. The service (e.g. "Catalina") has connectors to the ports for incoming requests. The engine in that service sorts out the requests for a particular virtual host based on the name attribute of the hosts. Any which don't match go to the defaultHost (e.g. localhost). Each host can have its own appBase as well as logs, root context, etc.
