It depends:

5.5.x only needs JRE
5.0.x and earlier versions needs full JDK
As for version I recommend Java 1.5 and it is required for the 5.5.x version unless you use the compatibility patch for 1.4

hi guys

i know that to settup tomcat , there no need for apache

i wanna know what java i should use

is it j2dk or j2ee

because i saw some example that uses both..

i am going to run JSP to retrieve info from database

i need guide on how to setup tomcat .. ie what java version i shoud use.

any links also would be helpfull .. consider a newbie case
