I just got the same configuration (apache 1.3.19 + tomcat 3.2.1 + Solaris 2.6 +
mod_jk) working yesterday. Try adding the -lposix4 to your command that builds the
mod_jk.so. Here is my command.
/usr/local/my-apache/bin/apxs -o mod_jk.so -DSOLARIS -I../jk -I/usr/java/include
-I/usr/java/include/solaris -lposix4 -c *.c ../jk/*.c
