it sounds likes tomcats getting a HUP ( hung up ) signal.. you can start
java with the "nohup" command or in the background by appending & to the
command. ( or ctrl-z and then "bg" ) 
or "disown" pid.. make sure you issue exit when you logoff the console.
fuck! are you sure you should be anywhere near this e10000 beast?? it might
offer you more than you bargained 4 =)

How do u start tomcat from a remote machine ?

shutting down of the remote machine should have nothing to do with shutting
down of tomcat. Your problem must be somewhere else.

    I have installed the Tom Cat 3.1 on a server Sun 10k. When I need
startup the Tom_Cat, I used a remote machine to startup it. Now, when I
shutdown  the remote machine the Tom Cat shutdown too. I'd like to know what
can I do to resolve this problem.
