hello Andrea, yes you could do this, it's only neccesary when you use tomcat as stand alone web server, when you use it with apache or so, it communicates over ajp12 or ajp13 (Port 8007 /Port 8009) the only thing you don't do disable is the ajp12, when you use the ajp13, because it is needed to shutdown tomcat.
