DocBase - Is it the directory, where the webpages must be stored ??

Well, i just repeat my question and sorry for my perhaps silly question.

Is the docBase the directory where the webpages must be stored ??

Please give me a short answer and if it is not the right directory a
short explanation where I can set the directory in which the webpages
are stored.
