did you import the class explicitly in your servlet?

eg: (without a package)

import MyClass;

public class MyServlet extends HttpServlet throws ServletEsception
IOException
  {
    MyClass instanceOfMyClass;
    instanceOfMyClass = new MyClass();

    etc.

to import the class in the package:

import com.mypackage.MyClass

cheers,

Paul
