Could you tell us the URL of the page? I went to
http://jakarta.apache.org/builds/jakarta-tomcat-4.0/release/v4.0/bin/
but could not find the mod_webapp you talked about.

Arnaud, the first thing you could do is go to the
tomcat 4.0 binary download page and go into the bin
directory where you'll find something called mod_webapp.
I've never used mod_jk but I'm led to believe this is
the replacement. Follow the instructions in INSTALL.txt
which is included in the tar ball.
