We are currently using linux redhat 6.2, apache 1.3.x, and tomcat 3.2.1. We are upgrading our entire system from the ground up. This will be a production environment serving around 50GB of traffic per week. 60-75% of the pages will be *.jsp.
Which version of tomcat should we use? Familiarity with 3.2.1 makes it easy to use the latest 3.2.4 release. Maybe we want to stick with the 2.2/1.1 servlet and jsp specs, so we would switch to the latest production release of 3.3.x. Will this require a significant amount of change to existing configurations? Would I gain any big advantages from using the newer servlet and jsp specs with tomcat 4.1.x?
