Actually, I think hey wanted how you get tomcat to generate the file.
The way I generate the tomcat auto config file:
1) Modify the server.xml to have something like:
<ApacheConfig jkConfig="conf/auto/mod_jk.conf-auto" />
2) Tell it to generate the configuration
/usr/bin/dtomcat start -jkconf
3) Include the output file into your apache configuration.

Yeah.. that documentation is outdated I think.
The default is actually here:
{TOMCAT_HOME}/conf/auto/mod_jk.conf
You can set it differently in your server.xml file.
