Please let me apologize first: I know from checking this list's database
that the question why JSPs throw sometimes an exception has been an issue
already (JDK1.4.0rc, tomcat 4.01, W2K). The stacktrace is appended at the
end of the mail.

However the solution which I found did not help so far. One, actually the
main, cause for the exception seems to be a lingering version 2.2
servlet.jar somewhere in jre/lib/ext dir. But that's not the case with my
configuration.

BUT I have JRun 3.1 also on my machine and jrun provides a servlet 2.2
implementation and I also have netbeans 3.3 on my machine which provides
tomcat 3.2.1 with its respective servlet.jar. Could it be possible, that
JRun's serlet.jar or Tomcat 3.2.1's servelet.jar is being used by Tomcat
4.0.1 even thoug NONE of these are in the classpath?

Does anybody have a clue?

Greetings

Michael Kastner
