Not sure the server.xml is relevant here. By "connector directives" (not "connection directories"), I mean what you put in Apache's httpd.conf file to tell it what to forward to Tomcat. (It may be in a different file, and included in httpd.conf via an "Include" directive.) Although if you're using mod_webapp, you probably have some WebAppDeploy directives, and I think there's a standard format for them, not sure you can control things down to the level of "/examples/" vs. "/examples".
