Howdy, Very strange that you are experiencing this. I use tomcat 4.0.4 on Solaris 2.7, JDK 1.3.1_01. I have no stability problems at all, I leave my machine up for days if not weeks.
For starters: why using a beta JDK? And are you sure you have the Solaris OS patches for the JDK? I had to install those (as root). It's not enough to just download the JDK itself.
