Others have built the connectors on Solaris 8.
Do you have a GNU build environment setup? You'll need gcc, libtool, automake, make, and autoconf if you want to do it the "old school" way using ./configure. All tools are available at http://www.sunfreeware.com If you want to post more specific information about your build problems (error messages, etc), you will probably get a response from someone who has the answer.
