Michael,

Are you using CATALINA_OPTS (or some other method) to set the http.proxyHost and http.proxyServer? If so, you might be able to set http.proxyUser and http.proxyPassword the same way. (I understand this doesn't always work, but if you haven't tried it yet, it's worth looking into.)

does any body know how to configure tomcat so that it is able to go out
through a firewall. The firewall at work requires a username and password
before a person can get on to the internet. I cannot find any documentation
