Web.xml and Server.xml

Hi This is Khurram

i) I want to ask that what can be the maximum effects of not giving a resource reference entry in the web.xml of my application , as i havnt got any problem by not giving it since a whole year working on enterprise application.

ii) secondly is it possible to relaod server.xml without restarting tomcat after adding a datasource by hand.
