1) You have to setup a Context in server.xml. There is already a ROOT Context by default. See the docs.
2) Yes. 3) If you have Tomcat installed as a service, you cannot use a shutdown script. You must control it via the services control panel. Does it mean if we can http://localhost:8080 successfully then Tomcat is running? 3) I tried to stop Tomcat (because I think it's running since I can run the index.jsp file)..by running %CATALINA_HOME%\bin\shutdown.bat ...but I got a Java exception "Connection refused".....
