Here's a bit from our listener.ora. It appears that the jdbc driver may be
sending a sequential request number as the port, or something like that. Why
isn't it just 1521?

listener.log:04-FEB-2002 16:49:30 * (CONNECT_DATA=(SID=smoke)(CID=(PROGRAM=)(HOS T=__jdbc__)(USER=oracle))) * (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=192.168.200.11)(PORT=1 506)) * establish * smoke * 0 listener.log:04-FEB-2002 16:49:30 * (CONNECT_DATA=(SID=smoke)(CID=(PROGRAM=)(HOS T=__jdbc__)(USER=oracle))) * (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=192.168.200.11)(PORT=1 507)) * establish * smoke * 0

The different port numbers seem to be causing a problem with the firewall at
one client site. Any suggestions?
