I've got a Web app running on Tomcat 4.1.24 and JDK 1.4.1 on a Windows 2000 desktop.
I'm generating a PDF that I'd like to be able to send to a printer attached to the machine on which Tomcat is running. I've got an HTML page that has a drop-down list populated with the names of the available printers. I'm using javax.print.PrintServiceLookup to find the available print services. I wrote a simple desktop app that finds the print services, prints out all the names, and sends a file to the default printer. I can see two printers attached to the machine on which Tomcat lives when I run this app, and printing to the default printer is successful. But when I run the Web app, the drop-down list of available printers is empty, even though the desktop app running on the same machine correctly finds two printers. Why doesn't Tomcat find the available printers? Is this a security issue? If so, can someone tell me how to give Tomcat permission to find the available printers? Thanks - MOD __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? SBC Yahoo!
